Modern moments

It could seem, according to the content of my portfolio, that I don’t have much of an appreciation for modernity, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. I love modern aesthetics as much as I love traditional ones.

I think I am someone who very much believes in the duality of life while also embracing the in-between. Light and dark, good and evil, modern and traditional, and the grayness that permeates all oppositeness. I am gray on the interior - neither light nor dark, not good, evil, modern nor traditional - but journeying to and exploring every alternative.

I aim to exercise the same explorative nature in my approach to making artwork. Where I once felt like it was a curse in lacking a distinct ‘style’ as an artist, I have now come to embrace my versatile and adaptable hand. Opportunities to create modern print and pattern, like the following work, help me to keep my skills sharp and maintain a wide point-of-view.
