Summers are for swimming. Summers are for... ice cream, and bike rides and lightning bugs.
at least, that’s what retailers want you to think, tee hee. I mean, the reality these days is grim; summers that used to glisten with morning dew and sparkle with evening insects now shimmer in plastic litter and glow in the light of ravaging forest fires. If you know me, you’d know that I am not one to sugarcoat the issues facing our planet today. It’s scary, and I do think about it a lot.
But retail is about keeping the magic. remembering the good times. and doing our best to help you make new, beautiful ones, even with the alarming decline of animal populations worldwide and the quickest increase in global temperatures of the last 500,000 years.
Artwork for summer is always bright and features nature, and I have always loved bright colors and animals. Lisa Frank was an early source of inspiration in my life, and science (after art) has always been my favorite subject. It’s easy to assume, then, that pieces from this season often resonate very well with the guest and like to stick around. THe green leafy wallpaper, for example, is still selling strong 7 years on since first hitting stores in spring on 2018!
